Heworth ARLC Under-18s are gearing up for their Yorkshire League top-four play-off final.

The showdown will be at Upton tomorrow (1pm) against Cottingham or Sutton Trust Lambwath.

Heworth saw off West Leeds in the semi-final, six-try Craig Richardson being the star.

Heworth came from a try down to take command with tries by Richardson, set up by Dan Craig, Ben Stoker, and Richardson again, to end a sloppy period.

Loose-forward Haiden Barber added a goal before Leeds replied for a 14-10 interval scoreline.

The second half was all Heworth, though.

Barber touched down a kick and, although Leeds narrowed the gap, Richardson scored four tries in a stunning short burst, with Callum Prenty – another top performer along with Ty Craig, Ollie Cook and Kyle Lowson – adding two goals.

Man-of-the-match Reece Maynard was on fire as York Acorn U11s beat Wetherby 36-10.

Hat-trick man Jack Wyard led the try-scoring, with others coming from the top performer Owen Levers, top tackler Thomas Atkin, Nathan Shepherd and Reece Maynard.

Goals were added by coaches’ player of the day Maxwell Sharpley, Atkin, Wyard and Maynard.

New Earswick U10s were unlucky not to win in a fantastic 22-22 draw with Oulton Raiders.

Dan Watson starred on his return, while winger Joe Crampton was man of the match for his strong tackling, hard work and superb try. Sub Martin Handsley was most improved in his second run-out and Daniel Craven took the ‘team player’ award.

Other tries came from Jimmy Piggot, the impressive Mathew Williams and Harry Suter. Williams, Suter and Harvey Baynes added goals.

Heworth U10s’ ten-match unbeaten run ended with a 38-30 defeat to Stanningley. But the Villagers, without two influential players, pushed their opponents all the way.

Man-of-the-match Leon Beattie twice scored to keep the hosts in it, 26-12 down at half-time, and they gave everything in the second half, led by ‘man of steel’ Henri Grimbley.

Sam Young made two try-saving tackles before putting Shay North over and Josh Rogerson twice smashed through – only for Stanningley to seal victory late on.

Robbie Gibb-Kirk scored four tries and was joint top tackler with Brooke Myhill in New Earswick U8s game against West Leeds. Lewis Young, though, was man of the match, also scoring a superb try.

Also on the scoresheet were star man Joshua Kelly (3) and Ellena Powell, while Daniel Hoban was ‘rising star’, William Lea most improved and Ryan Craft the ‘magic moment’ award winner for a solo effort which fell just short.

All Blacks are looking for new players aged six to eight.

Heworth U8s drew an enter- taining game against Kippax – man-of-the-match Callum Rutland being held inches short with the last play of the game.

Kian Oliver crossed four times and took the ‘magic moment’ award, with Jak Ostergaard (2) and Myles Harrison also scoring.

The fearless Spencer Harris was most improved, and captain Alex Bell, Freddy Mills and Jay Richards also shone.
