THE head teacher of Fulford School is to continue in his role as executive head teacher of both it and Millthorpe School.
Steve Smith took over as executive head at Millthorpe School in November while Millthorpe School’s head teacher, Tony Wooton, was recovering from illness.
Mr Wootton, has been on leave from the school since September 2009 recovering from illness.
Mr Smith was initially asked by City of York Council to be executive head teacher at both schools until May half term.
He said: “Tony’s illness has taken a little bit longer than we expected and the local authority has asked the governors of Fulford School would they extend this period, which we have done.”
Mr Smith has been overseeing work at Millthorpe four days a week alongside Scott Butterworth, a teacher at Millthorpe for more than ten years who was promoted from assistant head to deputy head in September 1, 2009.
Associate head at Fulford School, Lorna Savage, has been supporting Mr Smith at Fulford School.
