THESE are some of the items of jewellery taken by thieves in a raid on one of York’s most exclusive hotels.
Police released the images as they continue their investigation in to the thefts from guests’ rooms at Middlethorpe Hall last week.
The images show a pair of diamond cluster earrings, an 18ct gold and aquamarine bracelet and a Victorian 18ct white gold brooch.
The jewellery is part of a haul estimated to be worth tens of thousands of pounds which was taken from the rooms of wealthy race-goers while they were at dinner.
Victims included record company magnate Chris Wright, Derby-winning trainer Paul Cole and blood stock trader Bernard Gover.
Middlethorpe Hall manager, Lionel Chatard said he was “devastated” at the theft and that police believed the hotel had been the target of a professional gang.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Anyone who may be offered the jewellery for sale or has any information about the burglary is asked to phone York CID on 0845 60 60 247.
“Or you can give information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
