THE week’s top scorers in the Tyke Petroleum Men’s Tennis League were Bishopthorpe pair Martin Eason and Sam Watson with 35 games.
The duo lost the first game but hit back to dominate their division five clash with Sutton-on-Derwent 2 and guide Bish to an impressive 83-25 win.
Wigginton 2 top the table on games won after a 97-11 win against Civil Service 2. A final round 8-4 win from Paul Whurr and Ollie Gardner stole the points for York in a tight match at David Lloyd in division one.
Richard Parker and Dave Bradley notched 25 games at Bubwith to keep Fulford on maximum points with a 58-50 win. Dunnington saw off Rowntree Park 68-40, with 30 games from Dave Walton and Trevor Loten. The Poppleton derby was a tight affair until Pop 1 big guns John Moore and Paul Cook won 28 games in a 63-45 success.
The top-of-the-table clash in division two was surprisingly one-sided, with Castlegarth winning all but one of the nine rubbers to beat leaders Pocklington 73-35. Boston Spa won by the same score at luckless Strensall. Spa’s top scorers were Gordon Milne and Rob Taylor with 27 games.
