Now that the new Government has declared it is to put a stop to the war on cars, and stated it will not be funding councils across Britain to install speed cameras, what is City of York Council’s position, as it was expecting a cash handout to spread them over the city?
The Con-Dems have also stated that any revenue from existing speed/safety cameras will go not to the councils concerned, but to the Treasury.
Personally, I think any councillor who now wants to spend the publics money, our taxes, on these things ends up shooting themselves in the foot, and hopefully we will never hear of them again.
