HARROGATE lawyer Paul Berwin has set himself one of his toughest physical challenges yet in the hope of bringing his charity fundraising total to £50,000.
Since competing in the London Triathlon in 2002 as a fundraising champion, when he raised £18,000 for charity, he has totted up £35,000 for good causes.
His latest venture, A Day in The Lakes, on June 27, is a demanding triathlon involving a 1.2-mile swim across Ullswater, a 56-mile cycle ride over some of the steepest terrain in England and a 13-mile run.
Mr Berwin, managing director of Berwins Solicitors, said: “The whole event is likely to take around seven hours to complete, and the toughest part will be tackling a 13-mile run when I will already be drained by the 56-mile cycle ride.
One of Mr Berwin’s two charities, the Alzheimer's Society, has been chosen because his father-in-law, Bernard Ward, suffers from the condition. His other charity is the WIZO Jaffa Family Centre, which provides social services for Jewish and Arab single parents in Israel.
