OVINGTON ‘A’ had Jack Smith to thank for their opening win of the season against visitors Selby in the York & District Junior Cricket Association Burn & Company Solicitors Under-11s League.

Smith starred in the Zone ‘A’ fixture with 15 runs in his side’s 316 and he then took 2-11 to limit Selby to 278. He was well supported by Ralph Sinclair (2-11) and Will Osbourne (12).

For Selby, W Edwards and B I’Anson both made ten.

Drax (314) had a home win against Bishopthorpe (263). Drax’s Brad Murray made 13 and Charlie Adamson took 3-1, while Bish’s Elliot Kilby took 0-2 and top-scored with six runs.

York ‘A’ look like the team to beat in Zone ‘B’ after wins over Malton and Old Malton and Ovington ‘B’.

Against Ovington, Ted Patmore bagged a hat-trick and returned figures of 3-0 off three overs. He also scored eight runs. A Martin had figures of 0-3.

Top scorer for York was Cameron Burdass with 17. For Ovington, Fraser Nugent took 2-21. Burdass then took 3-1 against Malton, who had M Watson scoring 12 and taking 1-18.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s third straight win was at previously unbeaten Osbaldwick.

Charlie Rae hit 13, while Dan Cass took 2-7 and Joe Simpson 3-9. Harry Sheppeard was Osbaldwick’s man of the match with 2-11 and 11 runs.

A triple wicket maiden from Tommy Pearson (3-3) was the feature in Heworth ‘A’s home win against Malton & Old Malton.

Other highlights came from Josh Bell (2-7), Matthew Anderson (2-9) and Louis Brown (20), while Malton’s Keegan Burdett-Kitching made 15.

Only five runs separated Clifton Alliance and Dunnington ‘B’. Clifton’s Owen Marshall took 4-12 and Joe Kilvington made 17 to go with bowling figures of 1-3 from three overs.

Zone ‘C’ championship runners-up Londesborough Park started well with a home win against Pocklington. Toby Stephenson took 2-5 and Lewis Medley hit 15.

Pocklington (250) beat Stamford Bridge (232), with H Isenstein top-scoring for Pock with 17. Bridge’s L Johnson made 14.

Heworth ‘B’ (226) lost to Londesborough Park (268), for whom Toby Stephenson hit 14 and Luke Hewitt took 2-5.

The Woodhouse Grange (271) bowlers were on fine form in their win over Stamford Bridge (204). H Lee took 3-5, W Blackburn 2-3 and A Smith 2-2 to add to the ten runs he made. S Wake also hit ten. For Bridge, W Oldfield made15 and S McGinchley took 2-10.

Heworth ‘B’ gained a second win in a close game at Wheldrake, thanks to Harry Mitchell’s 18 and Milan Manandhar’s 2-4. Christopher Fox made 11 for Wheldrake.

In the Burn & Company Solicitors U9s League Zone ‘A’, last year’s runners-up Sheriff Hutton Bridge made a good start.

They won at Ovington ‘A’, racking up 281 and then restricting their hosts to 197. J Clarke led the way with 24 not out and 2-8. Gabriel McGill hit 16, with J Mould taking 2-8 and N Gill 2-3.

In Zone ‘C’, Selby ‘A’ (276) won at Londesborough Park (249).

Dunnington (281) beat Osbaldwick (188) thanks to Harry Griffiths (21), Jack Bradbury (13) and Joseph Richardson (11).

Jack Batchelor then took 4-1 in his two overs.

Osbaldwick’s best performer was Jack Allerton with 11.
