New Earswick ARLC Under-10s impressed again in winning 36-30 against Dudley Hill.
Men of the match were Harvey Baynes and Daniel Watson, the latter for his non-stop tackling.
Tries came from ‘team player’ award-winner Thomas Noble (2), most improved player Joe Crampton, Josh Ireland, Adam Winter Rhodes, Ewen Coverdale, who showed grit in attack, and Harry Suter.
Goals were added by Noble, Ireland, Winter Rhodes, Suter and Baynes.
New Earswick U9s had only seven players for their match at Featherstone Lions and lost 12 tries to seven.
They got first-half tries from Alex Horn, opposition’s choice of man-of-the-match Sam Adelugba, and coaches’ man-of-the-match Reece Ounsley (2), but only Ounsley (2) and the excellent Joe Davison crossed after the break.
Danny Scorfield and Ben Richardson did well while Sam Gage, in his first game after a five-week absence, won the most improved player award.
The under-strength U9s also put up a brave performance the previous week in losing eight tries to six to Oulton Raiders.
Star men Iain Oakley scored four tries and Tyler Ashfield two, sharing the ‘magic moment’ award for Ashfield’s second. Joe Davison was coaches’ man of the match.
New Earswick U8s continued their good form in their last game. Tries came from Lewis Young (2), Ryan Craft, Joshua Kelly, while Joe Harrison and Ellena Powell also shone.
