YORK will have a new Lord Mayor next week when the latest changes to the city’s civic party are made official.
Westfield councillor Susan Galloway will take up the figurehead role for the year ahead, replacing Coun John Galvin, when she is sworn into office next Thursday at City of York Council’s annual meeting.
The new Lady Mayoress, who will be Coun Galloway’s sister Lorraine Meehan, will support her in her civic duties as York’s 798th Lord Mayor.
The current Sheriff of York, Jill Burnett, will hand her role to Coun Richard Watson, whose sister Linda Watson will become Sheriff’s Lady. The official ceremony will be held at the Guildhall at 2pm on Thursday.
