SKATERS have high hopes for new facilities in Selby.
Five skateboarding enthusiasts have formed a committee to campaign for their well-worn equipment to be upgraded.
Carl Sandham, chairman of the Selby skate park committee, told The Press: “It’s really slippery and it’s starting to rust.
“It’s okay to use for now, but it needs repairing and ideally replacing.”
Carl believes between £150,000 and £300,000 is needed for the work and has been in touch with local councillors for advice about fundraising.
More than 800 people have signed a petition to support the cause and a meeting has been arranged at 5pm on Wednesday, June 2, at Selby High School.
Anyone interested in attending the meeting is asked to email the committee at selbyskatepark@gmail.com.
