MOTORISTS who use the A19 south of York are facing four months of disruption because of maintenance and improvement works.
City of York Council has warned of 30mph speed limits and lane closures during the project, which starts on June 7 and will continue in phases until September 26.
The authority says the work will affect a stretch of the road between the Fulford Interchange junction with the A64 and Crockey Hill.
Temporary traffic signals will be installed to reduce traffic to single file, with the speed limit imposed to ensure works can be carried out safely. But there will also be some overnight closures of the road to allow for carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing, with traffic sent on diversions.
As was reported in The Press on Saturday, motorists are already facing weeks of chaos from today in the east of York, following the closure of Lawrence Street at its junction with Foss Islands Road because of gas main replacement work. Further disruption will be caused by resurfacing work which will temporarily lead to the closure of routes including Haxby Road and Haley’s Terrace, starting on June 1.
