DOZENS of people gathered on York’s Bar Walls to play their part in an international day of worship.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, joined Christians for York’s contribution to the Global Day Of Prayer, which brought together people of all ages and denominations. They stood on the walls to pray for their families and communities as well as world issues.
The day also included a family service at York Minster and a procession of torches to mark Pentecost Sunday.
The Global Day Of Prayer events in York were organised by One Voice York and Churches Together in York, a network of Christian churches and leaders of different dominations in the city who work in partnership with City of York Council. “This is a great way to show our communities the church is alive and working together in unity,” said Juliet Wright, of One Voice York.
