TWO men were kicked unconscious during two separate robberies in Selby that took place within 30 minutes of each other.
The first attack happened just past the Unicorn pub when a 42-year-old man, who was walking home along Bondgate, was attacked from behind.
He fell to the ground and was kicked in the head before losing consciousness.
He suffered a broken nose and eye socket in the mugging and his black rucksack was also stolen.
The second robbery happened just half an hour later as a 32-year-old man walked home across the field behind Scott Road surgery.
He got to the entrance to Millgate when he heard people running behind him.
He turned to face them and a man asked him his name before punching him in the face.
He fell to the ground and was again kicked unconscious. During the attack his wallet and mobile phone were taken.
Police believe the incidents, which happened on Friday night, may be linked.
Detective Constable Amanda Bostwick, of Selby CID, said: “These were violent unprovoked assaults and I am appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
“I would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have seen two white men and a woman in the area the incidents took place.
They were all wearing black clothing and one of them may have been carrying a black rucksack.”
Anyone with information about the attacks or is asked to contact DC Amanda Bostwick or DC Lee Maeer, of Selby CID on 0845 6060247.
Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555111.
