WITH reference to Derek Martin’s letter (Bus lane “chaos”, May 19), I agree wholeheartedly with his comments. I would like to add that the “planners” obviously cannot use Fulford Road themselves or, if they do, very little.

The new layout is only going to add to the already streams and streams of traffic during the rush hour by making the queues longer and drivers more hopelessly frustrated.

I always thought planners changed things to make things better, but this is obviously not the case here. So far, because I travel Fulford Road every day (and during rush-hour times), we have seen “near” accidents at the bus lane outside Imphal Barracks. Also, this road is too busy to be put into single-file traffic, which most of it now seems to be, and is just going to cause more misery for the drivers who have to use this route to enable them to go out or get home.
