Residents and staff at a Scarborough care home gathered to wish a local fundraiser well as he prepared to set out on a gruelling cycle challenge.
Steve McNamara is taking part in the 350-mile Big Battlefield Bike Ride to raise funds for the armed forces charity Help For Heroes.
Before he set off, Steve popped in to St Cecilia's care home on Stepney Road and was welcomed by, among others, Major Harry Marr, who served in the Second World War and took part in the Dunkirk evacuation. Steve is being supported by St Cecilia’s, which funded his bike for use on the ride.
