Brian Page discovers a pair of stunning homes set in beautiful countryside.

We’ve long been a fan of barn conversions – but here is something that goes way beyond that – a farm conversion!

Wilstrop Lodge Farm was once, as should be obvious from the name, a working farm.

Now it is home to a collection of four executive and highly individual properties.

Set in beautiful countryside just outside Moor Monkton, the development has been created from the original farmhouse, two converted barns and a spectacular converted water tower (now there’s a conversation-starter for visitors).

There’s an exclusive feel about the whole project with the design mission being to preserve the original character of the buildings while providing quality and contemporary luxuries. That has resulted in a quartet of period homes with elegant touches such as bespoke staircases, oak flooring, natural stone and spacious kitchens and living areas.

Of the four, two have been sold – but the good news is that the two remaining are very distinctive properties.

The Water Tower is a brilliantly impressive property. Stepping through the timber entrance door you have three bedrooms off to the left, with one of these having a guest en-suite bathroom. To the right of the entrance you walk into a stunning sitting room with a further sun room and French doors opening on to the front garden. There is a super, spacious kitchen dining room (the dining area is almost 25ft wide) and a large study/snug. An eye-catching stainless steel staircase with open oak treads leads up to a further double bedroom with en-suite and a balcony (ideal for taking in the views). It is on offer at £575,000.

The other remaining property is Wilstrop Lodge Farm House. This is another breathtaking home, set over three floors.

The highlights here include a large breakfast kitchen leading through to a dining room and a drawing room with French doors opening onto a terrace and gardens.

On the first floor, there are two bedrooms, both en-suite, and a study; while on the second floor there is a pair of bedrooms with Velux windows and eaves storage. All set in south-facing gardens this, again, is a beautiful home, which is on offer at £525,000.

Both homes are marketed by Carter Jonas, phone 01904 558200.
