Selby District Council is changing the opening hours of its Access Selby and Tadcaster offices in order to save £35,000.
From July 5, the Access Selby office will be open from 9.30am until 4pm, except Wednesdays when it will retain its 10am start.
These new hours will also apply to the council’s Tadcaster office. The changes to opening hours affect only face-to-face visits to the office; the opening hours of the customer telephone service will remain unchanged.
It is estimated that the move will save the council approximately £35,000 each year.
The leader of Selby District Council, Coun Mark Crane, said, “Across the council we’re looking at how we can use taxpayers’ money as effectively as possible to deliver the services residents need. The reality of the economic situation is that local councils across the country are facing significant financial pressures, and we’re no different here in Selby. But by taking a measured approach, such as this, I’m confident that we’ll be able to secure the long-term viability of services.”
