CHILDREN from York attended dedication ceremonies for new trees on the banks of the River Ouse.
Pupils from Fishergate Primary, St George’s and York Steiner Schools were invited to the event by community action group Friends Of The New Walk.
By having the schools adopt a tree, the group hope to interest children in nature and history, and increase their sense of pride in their home city.
The group was set up to promote York’s historic riverside promenade, and planted the alder, silver birch and rowan trees with funding from the Fishergate Ward.
