THE Liberal Democratic City of York Council Executive has been officially voted back into office for the council year 2010/2011 with some changes of responsibilities.

Coun Ann Reid takes over council housing and Coun Andrew Waller takes over strategic and regional housing matters. Coun Jonathan Morley had previously been responsible for housing.

The changes follow the merger of six council directorates into four earlier this year. All other responsibilities remain as before.

Liberal Democratic councillors voted for the executive and change of responsibilities at the council’s annual meeting. Opposition Labour councillors abstained on the appointments vote, but voted against the change of responsibilities.

Liberal Democrat leader Coun Waller is now responsible for economic development, community safety and strategic housing regional matters. Deputy party leader Coun Carol Runciman continues to be executive member for children and young people’s services, Coun Richard Moore continues as executive member for corporate services, Coun Steve Galloway has city strategy and Coun Nigel Ayre has leisure, culture and social inclusion. Coun Reid is now executive member for neighbourhood services including housing, and Coun Morley is now executive member for health and adult social services.
