FAIR-HAIRED cowboys of all shapes and sizes have been filmed in York, as part of a new advert for Nestlé Milkybar.

Members of the public were asked to sing the classic jingle for a film crew while wearing the Milkybar Kid’s trademark blonde wig, glasses, neckerchief and cowboy hat.

A spokesman for Nestlé confirmed the filming was part of a new advertising campaign due to air later this year.

He said: “It’s a new campaign for Milkybar which features everyday people, and is being filmed at several locations around the country.

“It’s going to be quite a big campaign which should be aired towards the end of the summer.”

Student Emily Spooner, 21, spent about 20 minutes in front of the camera outside the Minster yesterday.

She said: “It was fun. I got to wear a wig and eat a lot of chocolate. Every time I had a bite they gave me a new bar though, so I probably only ate one.

“I was walking past the crew a couple of days ago and they asked me to sing the song.

“When I did, they asked if I’d come back today. I’m sure it could be the start of an amazing career!”

This is the latest in a long line of adverts for the white chocolate treat to feature the Milkybar Kid – the blond, bespectacled cowboy.

The Milkybar Kid was played by ten young actors since he first appeared in the 1960s with his catchphrase “The Milkybars are on me!”

The very first Milkybar Kid was Terry Brooks, who was paid £10 for starring in his first advert.
