OVINGTON and Acomb ‘A’ are blazing a trail at the top of Zone ‘A’ in the York & District Junior Cricket Association Burn & Company Solicitors Under-11s League.
Ovington ‘A’ (328) bagged their third win in three games against Bolton Percy (248).
Matty Roberts hit 17, Alex Jenden 15 and Jonathan Souch 11.
Bolton captain Andrew Shepherd replied with 16 not out, including a huge six, but his team-mates struggled against the likes of Oliver Finch (2-0).
Tadcaster Magnets (253) came out on top in a close game at Cawood (237).
Acomb ‘A’ (317) had a comfortable win at Hemingbrough (238).
Will Fryer hit 15 for Acomb and Jamie Spaven took 2-7, with Ben Botterill also among the wickets.
Reigning Zone ‘B’ champions York ‘A’ (255) had their bowlers to thank as they toppled previously unbeaten Sheriff Hutton Bridge (216).
Sam Grewer, Harvey Emmerson, Will Andrews and Ted Patmore all took one wicket, but Sam Elliott (2-8) and Cameron Burgess (3-8) did most damage. Burgess, Andrews and Alfie Stephenson all made seven runs.
Dan Cass top-scored for Bridge with seven and Oliver Green, Nathan Chapman and Angus Barrick all chipped in with a wicket apiece.
York (344) had earlier overcome Acomb ‘B’ (141). Elliott (3-5 and 18), Stephenson (17), Andrews (17), Patmore (17), Emmerson (13) and Joe Warn (3-1) all had stand-out games, but they were topped by Alex Martin, who top scored with 23 and took 4-0.
Acomb’s Jack Lawrence took 2-4 and Keiron Gargan hit six.
Zone ‘C’ leaders Dunnington ‘A’ (233) had their bowlers to thank for the win at Londesborough Park (217).
Alex Wilson took 2-5 and Harry Littlewood claimed 4-2, to add to his nine runs, as they helped inflict Park’s first defeat.
Wilson (24) and Littlewood (2-1) were also leading performers as Dunnington (329) beat York ‘B’ (187). Charlie Barron made 15 and took 3-12, including a hat-trick for York, while Keon Williams scored 16 and Will Jones scored 13 and took 2-0.
Pocklington (272) joined the leading group with a home win over Yapham (258).
Harry Isenstein hit 12 and Finn East took 2-7 for Pock, while Yapham’s challenge included 15 from Stephen Hutchinson and 18 and 2-1 from their man of the match, Will Cardy.
Acomb and Dunnington progressed to round one of the Burn & Company Solicitors Cup.
In the preliminary round, Acomb (237) beat Ovington (236) thanks to a match-winning six from L Bellerby.
Dunnington (255) saw off Woodhouse Grange (221), with Alex Wilson and Tom Loten both hitting 11 and Will Jones taking two wickets.
Woodhouse’s resistance came from Tom Stubley, who made 18.
