I visited the “new” York Central Library twice in the first two days, after it reopened following its six-month refurbishment (Are you ready to Explore?, The Press, May 21).

Too early to pass judgement yet, of course.

However, some early signs were not good.

There will be no colour printing facility working until August.

On the second day of opening the upstairs toilets were closed.

The clock in the entrance lobby was not working properly.

Another observation I made was qualified librarians working behind the counter in the cafeteria.

Not the best of starts. Let’s hope things settle down quickly.

At least the new city Explore Centre seems better than the awful Acomb Explore experience.
