THIS super slimmer has lost a third of her body weight.

At her heaviest, Claire Martin tipped the scales at 19 stone eight pounds and wore a 24 dress size when she existed on a diet of takeaways, pizza and greasy food.

Now the 27-year-old has dropped six dress sizes and can fit into a svelte size 12 after radically changing her diet and joining a gym.

She has shed seven stone two pounds since joining Slimming World and is now set to inspire fellow dieters by becoming a consultant for the company.

Claire, of Dringhouses, said her turning point came when the waistband of her size 24 trousers felt tight and she was about to buy the next size up.

“I just thought to myself ‘no’ – and put the clothes back on the hanger,” Claire said. “It was then I knew I had to do something to lose the weight.” Claire said she began “piling on the pounds” at the age of 18 when she would eat the same foods and size portions as her partner David.

“I was basically matching what he ate, so I had large pizzas and up to four takeaways a week,” she said.

“By the time I was 21 I wore a size 24. I was at a real low and at one point I just thought if I carried on eating maybe the doctors would give me a gastric band, which is awful to think.

“The incident in the shop was the turning point and I decided to join Slimming World.”

By August 2007, Claire had dropped four stone in time for her wedding to David.

“I was then at a steady weight until May last year when I decided to lose more and I have lost a further three stone and two and a half lbs since then,” she said.

Claire will be launching a new Slimming World group at the village hall, in Strensall, on Monday, June 7. For more information phone 07870554667.
