VISITORS to York’s Roman Festival got a taste of the exotic this weekend.
The festival was held in the grounds of the historic Grays Court, near the Treasurer’s House and included a banquet fit for an Emperor.
Best-selling author Ben Kane was guest speaker at the festival and banquet.
Mr Kane is author of the The Forgotten Legion and The Silver Eagle, and signed copies of his books and answered questions at the festival venue on the Saturday.
The weekend also included demonstrations on Roman weapons, armour, food and cooking, medicine, religion, bathing, and even toilets.
A banquet was followed by a grand auction held to help raise funds for a bigger festival next year.
