Dunnington brushed aside potential title rivals Poppleton as they continued to blaze a trail at the top of division one in the IT Sports Mixed Doubles Tennis League.

Trevor Loten and Nicola Mooney won 29 games for the leaders as they made it four wins from four with a 79-29 victory.

Fulford moved into second place by beating York 3 thanks to a 32-game haul in the final round.

That success followed a close win over Castlegarth, with top scorers Govind Baker and Faye Garland sealing victory with a final round 11-1 scoreline.

Poppleton 2 earned their first point in division two with a hard-fought draw against unbeaten Rowntree Park.

Patrick Evans and Catherine Baker ensured the points for Rufforth at bottom side Wigginton.

Unbeaten Adrian Streetley and Nicky Horn made sure of Stillington’s win over Copmanthorpe.

York are now the only unbeaten side in division four after Gordon Bruce and Margaret Whitehead starred in the win over Fulford, while David Linsley with partner Phillippa Ashley were to the fore at Stamford Bridge.

Wigginton’s Andy Burnham and Sandra Burley moved their side into third place with a win against previously unbeaten Heworth.

Division six is wide open with only games difference separating the top four teams after Tollerton beat New Earswick, with Howard and Ali Thompson leading the way.

Poppleton got the better of previously unbeaten Wilberfoss to go top, just ahead of Rowntree Park. Ed Martin and Sandra Robinson won Park the points against New Earswick, but they struggled against Appleton Roebuck.

Neil Richardson and Rachel Huggins dropped only one game for Wistow in division seven in a big win over Sutton-on-Derwent.

Fulford’s Andrew and Chantal Lowson were unbeaten as they edged out York for their first points.

Alistair Scott-Summers and Andrene Watson were Bishopthorpe’s highest scorers against Tadcaster in division eight and they keep top spot on games difference ahead of unbeaten Dunnington.
