THE credit card conman who lived a champagne lifestyle in York on other people’s money has been jailed again.
After finishing his prison sentence for his York crimes, Mark Chapman, 32, contacted a new victim through an internet dating room and conned her out of hundreds of pounds.
Chapman, of Barton-le-Willows, north-east of York, pleaded guilty to two charges of fraud totalling £3,750 and three more counts of fraud totalling £2,250 were left on file.
He was jailed for nine months at Hull Crown Court.
The Honorary Recorder of Hull and the East Riding, Judge Michael Mettyear, told Chapman: “People like you always have an excuse for everything.
“There is always someone else to blame, but the truth is you and you alone are responsible and the truth is you are thoroughly dishonest and find it very difficult to go long periods without offending.”
In 2008, staff at the Living Room, York, ended his free-spending crooked lifestyle in the York area when they stopped him making off without paying a £144 champagne bill.
He was jailed for that and other crimes for nine months.
