I CAN’T believe the city council planners have got it wrong again. What planet do they come from?
We have endured weeks and weeks of road works on Fulford Road, and for what?
A couple of hundred yards of bus lane, a bike lane, and creating what, in my opinion, is a death trap, by taking away the filter lane into Iceland.
The traffic that wants to turn right has now got to wait for a gap into the incoming traffic, but drivers are still manoeuvring into the middle lane, where I was on Saturday, and I had to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision.

• I WRITE in agreement with Mr Martin’s letter (Bus lane “chaos”, May 19).
I believe from the day the workmen painted the lane on Fulford Road there was an accident waiting to happen.
Maybe the council will come to its senses now; such a waste of money.
Shane Ellerton, Burlington Avenue, Tang Hall, York.
• For some years now there has been a cycle lane from Fulford to the city centre along the river.
Why then has it been deemed necessary to provide an additional cycle lane along Fulford Road?
Surely this just encourages cyclists to take a more dangerous route into the city when a safer, traffic-free route is already available along the river.
As a cyclist I am well aware that the route along the river can flood, but this happens on perhaps five days at the most in a year.
Can this really justify the provision of a lane that I would say has already proved to be dangerous?
Dave Moores, Palmes Close, Naburn, York.
