THE sky turned green when 225 balloons were released in a race to raise money towards the development of a children’s high dependency care unit at York Hospital.
With the help of youngsters from Stamford Bridge Primary School, The Balloon Tree Farmshop, at Gate Helmsley, enlisted supporters to sell 225 balloons at £1.50 a go to raise funds for York Guardian Angels charity, The event was to boost the coffers of the unit which enables more children to be treated in York rather than being transferred to Leeds or elsewhere.
The balloons carried tags with the senders’ names on and there are prizes for the winner of the race and the children who sold the most balloons, including a family pass to York Maze and ten tickets to York’s Most Haunted visitor attraction.
The event raised more than £300.
