WASTE and recycling officers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council are offering help to those doing green projects.
The project, called Operation Lifestyle, was started by Humberside Police, a partner of the council, in 1989 to offer challenges to ten to 16-year-olds to encourage citizenship, team spirit and reduce criminality by young people.
John Skidmore, of the council, said: “We are enthusiastic about assisting those taking part. This project helps everyone and helps foster a real community spirit.”
Entrants choosing projects with an environmental or recycling theme should phone the recycling hotline on 01482 395586.

The project is promoted in schools and participants work together in teams of two to five, choosing a project which shows they care about their local community.
The winning prize is a trip to Florida, including a visit to Disneyland. Other prizes include adventure holidays to France and Wales.
