ACOMB arrows ace Chris Thompson has been drawn against two-time World Championship runner-up Ronnie Baxter in the third round of the UK Open.
Thompson was in sparkling form as he defeated Justin Pipe 6-4 at Bolton's Reebok Stadium last night but world number six and Premier League star Baxter will provide a stern test for the “Hitman.”
It also promises to be a late night for the Crescent WMC player with his match against Baxter the last on board seven at the Sky-televised event.
Thompson is York's sole survivor in the competition after Martyn Turner bowed out 6-4 to Mark Harris at the second round stage.
Young prospect Matt Padgett also ended John Quantock's interest in the competition with a 6-3 first round victory.
