NEARLY 200 former customers and friends of Les Simpson, the proprietor of Linzis, the former Selby coffee bar, attended a reunion at Selby Working Men’s Club.
The event coincided with Les’s 80th birthday and among the guests were three members of the 1960s pop group Ricky Knight and the Crusaders, who Les promoted in their early days.
They entertained the guests with a selection of songs from the sixties along with Ricall singer Billy Bills, a former customer at Linzis.
During the evening a decorated birthday cake was cut by Les and pieces distributed to the guests.
“It was a great night, I had not seen the Crusaders for over 40 years and it made the night extra special,” Les said.
