POLICE have said that two alleged robberies in York did not in fact happen.
The first alleged incident was reported to police as having happened at 9.30pm on Friday, May 28, on the cycle track between the bridge of Haxby Road and Ashville Street.
The second was said to have occurred at 1.15am on Sunday, May 30, in Bootham.
But officers said neither of the alleged incidents had actually taken place.
Detective Constable Vincent Morris, of York CID, said: “Robbery is clearly a very serious crime, and I hope the fact that most of the recent reports have now been discounted reassures people that York does remain one of the safest places to live and work in the country.”
