POLICE are appealing for help to locate a patient who has gone missing from York Hospital.
Derek Hatfield, 66, who is from Staffordshire but was living temporarily in the York area, was last seen by nursing staff leaving the south entrance of the hospital at about 1.30pm on Wednesday.
He has not been seen or heard from since, and his family and officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.
Mr Hatfield is described as white, about 5ft 10ins tall with short, balding grey hair, greying facial stubble and is of a stocky build.
When last seen he was wearing a cream sweater and light-coloured chino trousers.
PC Gail McKenzie said: “Derek left the hospital without completing his treatment and has not been in touch with family members since then.
“We are growing concerned for his welfare and his family are extremely worried about him.
“I would like to appeal directly to Derek that if he reads or hears this appeal, to please contact your family, friends or the police and let us know you are safe.”
Anyone with any information should phone York Police on 0845 6060 247.
