ANGLER Wayne Westmoreland topped the weights in round 11 of the Bob-Co Spring Series.
A field of 37 tackled a very windy Carpvale complex and it was the quieter pegs on the Cyprio and Match pools that produced some excellent weights.
Westmoreland led from peg 18 on Cyprio, where 17 carp fell to cat meat at 11 metres for an 85lb haul.
Top weight on the Match Pool went to Tony Hewson (Leeds Angling Centre), who tackled the margins of peg 46 with pellet for 31 carp scaling 54lb 8oz.
There was a tie for third with Dave Wright (Leeds Angling Centre) and Andy Jacques (Sensas Wibsey) both recording 48lb 10oz.
Others: Andy Gallant (Bob-Co) 46-8-0; John Mills (Bob-Co) 46-4-0; Keith Larkin (York) 45-12-0; John Haw (Acomb Tackle) 45-6-0.
On Bank Holiday Monday, Harrogate Nomads enjoyed a good contest in much more benign conditions on the Front Pond.
Shaun Slater led from peg 58, where he tempted 21 carp on pellet at 12 metres for 77lb 10oz.
Steve Wilson was second off peg 67, where method feeder and pellet fished to the island accounted for 18 carp scaling 62lb 13oz.
Close behind was John Brain from peg 71, where his usual bread tactics brought him 12 carp for 61lb 6oz.
Others: Jim Taylor 61-4-0; Martin Dodsworth 50-11-0.
The York Amalgamation contest on Bank Holiday Monday proved to be a bream and skimmer dominated affair at Park View Lake.
Mal Pearson led the way with an excellent 19lb 10oz to put him just ahead of Dennis Murray, who had 16lb 9oz. Best of the rest was Al Whitehead with 6lb 12oz.
Emma’s Lake produced the bulk of the leading weights at Langwith on Sunday, including the 80lb 12oz that Pip Snaith hauled out of peg 16.
Snaith offered pellet in the margins to take carp to 3lb, as did Roger Holmes at peg 19, who ended the day with 77lb 11oz.
After a third the previous week, Rich Newton grabbed the win at Oaktree Leisure this week.
In a close finish after working with meat at ten metres at peg 51 from Pond Four he beat carp to 6lb. His final 51lb 12oz saw him eclipse Gareth Watson, who alternated pellet and meat at peg 14 for a 50lb tally.
The latest Thursday evening open at Poppleton Lakes saw John Haw (Acomb Tackle) take top spot with 57lb 4oz from peg 25 on the Railway Pool. Dave Wright (Yorkshire Baits) was second with 38lb 8oz.

Weighty matters
Carpvale Doubles has been in great form again with plenty of handsome fish coming to the net.
A big brace was netted by local rod Dave Addison from peg ‘N’ and formed part of a ten-fish haul taken during a 48-hour session.
Alternating bolies and plastic corn over a bed of particles proved the winning target.
His best fish scaled 21lb and 20lb 4oz, the bigger of the brace being this superb long, lean common carp.
