CLIFTON Alliance beat Ovington to get off the mark in Zone ‘A’ of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Burn & Company Solicitors Under-9s League.

Dan Moll (2-7 and 16) and Josh Moore (16) were top performers for Alliance (300) at Ovington (246).

In Zone ‘B’, Acomb ‘B’ (267) overcame York ‘A’ (255) by 12 runs in a close game. York’s Alex Bindloss made 11 runs.

York (283) hit back with a win over Selby ‘B’ (214). Sam Backhouse made 14 runs for York, while Selby’s William Rich made 17 and took 2-6.

York ‘A’ (264) then went down by four runs to Dunnington ‘B’ (268).

Dunnington’s Harrison Mussell starred with 25 and 3-8, while Bindloss made 23 for York.

Heworth (284) were six-run victors at Selby ‘B’ (278).

Heworth’s Leo Jones took 2-10 and Will Roundtree 2-17, while the runs came from Robert Draper (15), Ben Kneafsey (13) and Alex Kemp (14).

Dunnington ‘A’ (255) are the early pacesetters in Zone ‘C’ after a victory over Stamford Bridge (251).

Dunnington’s total included runs from Harry Claxton (17) and Charlie Creswell (15), while Stamford’s Dan Gilyeat took 2-3 and Matthew McFarlane 2-11.

Daniel Durkin made 12 and McFarlane ten in the Bridge reply, but Claxton took 3-3 to see his side home.

Previously, Durkin had hit 16 and took 2-2, while James Cain claimed 2-6, as Stamford Bridge (256) won at Selby ‘A’ (205).

Hosts Yapham (252) prevailed over Selby ‘A’ (243), with George Watson taking 2-5 as they moved into second place.
