PUPILS from Barmby Moor Primary School are through to the area final of the Drax Cup, the biggest cricket competition for under-9s in the country.
The Barmby boys and girls will play in a mini-tournament involving five schools from the region to be held at Beverley Cricket Club on Friday, June 11, from 9.30am to noon.
The winner will represent East Yorkshire against the other three regions of the county in the competition finals at Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s Headingley base on Sunday, July 4.
The tournament will be a curtain-raiser to the Tykes’ clash with Warwickshire in the Friends Provident Twenty20 Cup.
The Drax Cup is now in its fourth year, with some 350 schools and 3,500 boys and girls across Yorkshire taking part. For full details and competition rules, visit the website www.yorkshireccc.com/ draxcup
