Heworth ARLC Under-12s’ determination earned them a 26-6 victory over New Earswick All Blacks U12s in the final of the York & District U12s Cup. The Villagers are in a division lower than the All Blacks, but their strong defensive game and powerful running from the likes of captain Jacob Sunderland overwhelmed their opponents.
Jack Smith opened the scoring and Harry Radcliffe followed with the first of two tries, Lewis Brown and Louis Brown converting them well. Arran Naismith put in a confident first appearance for Heworth and was rewarded with a try, while Jack Longstaff’s quick thinking saw him touch down in the corner.
