FINE batting saw York Cricket Club Under-15s enjoy an eight-wicket victory over Cottingham in the ECB National U15s competition.
York elected to field first but Cottingham made a steady start despite some good opening bowling.
A direct hit run-out by Charlie Elliot claimed the first wicket but the scoring rate increased due to some indifferent bowling and fielding, before off-spinner Felix Adams slowed things down in claiming 3-9, Cottingham closing on 117.
York’s reply was fast and furious with Hamish Lynde (40) and Elliot (48no) punishing some wayward bowling, and a cameo knock of 22 by Chris Burn resulted in victory with two overs to spare.
