A BODY has been recovered from the River Wharfe following a major search operation to find an eight-year-old boy.
Emergency services were called to Bolton Bridge, near Bolton Abbey, between Skipton and Harrogate, at 3pm, after reports the boy went into the water and failed to emerge.
Police, cave rescue, the air ambulance, firefighters and an underwater search unit were all involved in the search operation.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said a body was recovered at 6.25pm.
She said they were not yet able to identify the body.
