YOUNG dancers from the York Youth Dance Company were jumping for joy after they won places at top dance colleges.
The youngsters have all participated in performances in York and across the region and are all members of York Arts Academy.
The successful students include Joanne Burton, an ex-pupil at York High School and one of the founder members of the company, who will study dance at Northumberland University.
Holly Walton, who is also a founder member of the group who is currently taking her GCSEs at All Saints’ School in York, has won a place at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds.
Beth Clark and Joseph Belle, who have also been with the group for the last couple of years, are both studying at York College and will also join Holly in Leeds.
Edward Lynch, dance consultant at City of York Council, said: “These students deserve our congratulations on successfully auditioning for these dance training institutions.
