THE vicar of Selby Abbey has announced he is to retire after three years in the position.
Father Keith Richards said he is leaving Selby to take up an appointment as priest in charge of St Barnabas’ Church, in Hove.
A Selby Abbey spokeswoman said Fr Richards wanted to return to the south of England before his retirement in five years. She said his time at the abbey had seen several improvements to the interior of the building, including the establishment of two new chapels.
“Although Fr Keith is sad to be leaving the abbey, he does so knowing that it is in good heart with a fine musical tradition and a warm and welcoming congregation.”
