A LEVEL-PAR round of 71 saw York golfer Simon Dyson get off to a steady start in the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond.

The 32-year-old was among the early starters in blustery conditions yesterday, but emerged relatively unscathed heading into today’s second round.

Dyson, the world number 76, started at the tenth hole and, after dropping a shot at the par-four 12th, picked up birdies at the par-four 15th and par-three 17th.

He moved to two-under for the day with a birdie at the par-four third, but then slipped back to level pegging with bogeys at the fifth and eighth holes.

The pick of the earlier starters were Graeme Storm and Edoardo Molinari, who both carded five-under-par rounds of 66.
