TWO women have completed a tandem skydive to raise money for charity.

As previously reported in The Press, Jo McDonough, 26, and her friend, Lisa Anderson, organised the jump on the first anniversary of Jo’s husband Chris’s death to raise funds for suicide awareness charity Papyrus.

Jo said: “It’s still a bit of a blur, but it was just amazing. There are no words to explain the feeling of jumping out of a plane from 15,000 feet.”

The pair hoped to raise £500 for the charity, but through sponsorship at Jo’s pub, the Duke of York in Gate Helmsley, and online, that target has been shattered.

“I think we have reached about £1,500 now, but we’re holding a gig later this month to raise a little bit more,” said Jo.

Tickets for the gig on Friday, July 23, cost £8 and are available from the pub. For more information on suicide awareness and depression, visit papyrus-uk.org, or to donate visit justgiving.com/joanne-mcdonough
