CHILDREN of all ages were awarded “Yoscars” for their filmmaking skills at the fifth York Oscars ceremony.
The youngest children entering the competition, in which they submitted a short film or animation, were just three years of age.
Yvonne Methley, from City of York Council’s learning, culture and children’s services team, said easy-to-use video cameras and tailor-made editing software enabled the children to enter the early years and foundation category, while secondary school pupils used sophisticated editing software.
She said: “The standards of the films go up every year and they used a great many different special effects and camera techniques.”
