A FOOTBALL fan’s celebrations after England’s 1-0 win against Slovenia have led to him being locked up in his home every night for the next three months.
Mark Henry Jackson, 22, threw punches during an incident on Ouse Bridge in the early hours of Thursday, June 24, York magistrates heard.
He had been in a pub the previous evening watching England beat Slovenia to qualify for the second round of the World Cup Finals.
His solicitor, Sally Howard, said he had continued drinking after the final whistle until he had had far too much alcohol.
Jackson, of Walmgate, York, pleaded guilty to using threatening words and behaviour and was put under curfew from 8pm to 7pm every night for the next 12 weeks. Mrs Howard said he could not remember why he had hit out on Ouse Bridge. Nobody was injured as a result.
