UNBEATEN Acomb ‘B’ took a huge stride towards the play-offs by beating close rivals Pocklington in Zone ‘B’ of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Burn & Company Solicitors Under-9s League.

Acomb (293) edged to a nine-run victory over Pock (284) thanks to runs from D Watkinson (23), S Beighton (14), A Sanderson (14) and J Thornton (11).

In Zone ‘A’, there were runs from Dan Moll (32), Jack Mayfield (31) and Josh Moore (20) as Clifton Alliance (317) took the points at Acomb ‘A’ (245).

Alliance’s top bowlers were Jack Mayfield (3-2), Jack Heartshorne (3-10), Noah Kennedy (2-11) and Dan Moll (1-1).

Jack Allerton was central to Osbaldwick’s (284) narrow victory over Londesborough Park (280) in Zone ‘C’.

Allerton conceded no runs off his two overs and then scored 30, while Osbaldwick’s Josh Vella took 2-10.

Dunnington ‘A’ (364) beat Pocklington ‘B’ (232) as three batsmen topped 30 runs – Harrison Mussell (35), Finlay Smith (31) and Harry Griffiths (30).

Joseph Richardson made 21 and Charlie Cresswell took 2-6.

Stamford Bridge (309) batsmen Daniel Durkin (16), David Fitzgerald (16) and Kieran Maclean (15) were on song in a win over Yapham (242).

Yapham’s Robert Boddy (22 and 2-6) put up some resistance.
