SIMON DYSON crashed out of the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond after a disappointing second round of 76.

Having made a steady start to the tournament with a level-par 71 on Thursday, the York golfer slipped to five-over and missed the halfway cut by three shots.

Dyson carded a bogey five on the second hole and added a double bogey to his score on the par-four seventh in testing conditions.

A further shot went astray at the par-four 12th before the 32-year-old bagged his sole birdie on the par-four 15th hole.

A closing bogey five at the 18th meant it would be a weekend of leisure for Dyson as the race for crucial Ryder Cup qualification points is hotting up.

As Dyson struggled, leader Darren Clarke turned in another brilliant performance in foul weather to take command of the event.

The 40-year-old Ulsterman, now ranked only 179th in the world and down at 38th in the Ryder Cup points race, moved to ten-under par.

He is three clear of second-placed Italian Edoardo Molinari after adding a four-under-par 67 to his opening 65.
