YORK St Peter’s School Under-15s cricket team have been crowned Yorkshire champions in the ECB Twenty20 – but narrowly failed in their bid for the northern title.

Playing Hipperholme School in the Yorkshire final, they overhauled their opponent’s total of 117 in the 17th over for the lost of four wickets. Will Booth top scored with 39.

That put them into the North of England final at Kendal, joining the winners from Durham, Lancashire and Cumbria.

The Durham side failed to show and that put St Peter’s into the final against Sedbergh.

Batting first, Sedbergh scored 146 and St Peter’s finished on 126.

Meanwhile, St Olave’s U13 team travelled to St Edward’s Oxford for the finals of the JET Cup.

They had previously beaten Birkdale to be crowned champions of the northern region and faced a semi-final against Edge Grove.

St Olave’s restricted them to 100-7 in 25 overs and won by five wickets.

The final against Millfield was a different affair. The loss of early wickets saw St Olave’s all out for 80.

St Olave’s bowling attack of Oliver Leedham, Ben Williams, Harry Stodhardt and Harry Richardson gave nothing away, but Millfield reached the target in the 22nd over to win by six wickets.
