A PEDESTRIAN has been badly injured in a crash in the Holgate area of York.
The incident involved an 80-year-old man, who was walking along Holgate Road yesterday morning, and a red Peugeot 406, which police said was being driven by 25-year-old woman.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We were alerted by the ambulance service at 10.17am to Holgate Road.
“The call came in as a collision between a car and a pedestrian. “The man appeared to have a serious head injuries and was put in to an ambulance and taken to York Hospital.”
The spokesman said the injuries turned out to be a possible broken leg and a head injury but the victim was reported to be “alert and responsive” in hospital.
The incident happened on the stretch of Holgate Road between the Iron Bridge and Hamilton Drive.
