FURTHER to your report reference the reintroduction of the filter lane at the Clifton Green traffic lights – (Car lane may be reinstated, July 8), at last it would appear that the council have realised they have made a blunder.
Although it would appear that Coun Steve Galloway seems rather reluctant to admit that the renewal of the filter lane was a mistake. I would suggest to the executive committee before spending £35,000 that they look at the width of the hedges leading to the traffic lights. They appear to protrude well into the footpath. If these were cut back there would be sufficient room to have a cycle lane and footpath, so saving the council a considerable amount of money.
